About Petty
Petty, also known as "Max," is an easy-going, three-legged senior with a lot of life and love left to share. He’s spent most of his years on three legs, but that hasn’t slowed him down much—Max keeps up with his foster siblings and even enjoys a bit of playful wrestling. He’s happiest when he’s close to people or other dogs, and you’ll often find him right by your side (or underfoot if something tasty hits the floor). Max enjoys walks—he’s well-mannered on leash, though squirrels still get his attention, and he keeps an energetic pace even with his distinctive gait. A medium-sized fenced yard suits his active style, but he will bundle up and go out when it’s chilly if encouraged. Indoors, Max transforms into a champion napper and loves spending evenings on the couch or cuddled up on the bed. If left home alone, he does best with another dog and light background music, as being crated or isolated brings out some separation anxiety. He doesn’t chew belongings, is house trained, and sleeps through the night soundly. He knows a variety of commands and is quick to alert you if someone comes to the door—a good, barky companion with a gentle side. Max does well with dogs, cats, and kids, making him a social fit for an active family or retired individual looking for a friendly, affectionate companion. Adoption through Focus on Cumberland County Animal Safety (FOCCAS) includes vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, and preventive care. Petty’s adoption journey could begin with you.
