About Hazel

Hazel is a 4-year-old, 60-pound Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix who landed at a shelter pregnant last summer. She raised eight pups—excellent with them as they grew—and watched each find homes while she waited her turn. Hazel is an alpha and dog selective. She’s done well with a mellow younger female and will run up and down the yard with other dogs on the other side of the fence, but clashes with any dominant females. If she’s the boss, slow introductions can work. Hazel has serious energy; she needs daily running and activity to be at her best. Despite her rough history, she is loving, craves attention, and warms up with patience. She bonds deeply with people willing to give her the time she needs to trust. Hazel does not get along with cats but is good with children. She’s house trained and looking for an adopter who understands both her lively spirit and her need for structure and reassurance.
