About Misty
Misty, also known as Misty Lucy or Scooter Patooter, is a living testament to grit and good humor. She came to rescue after surviving on her own with back leg paralysis from a car accident as a puppy, managing through winter by searching for food and shelter the hard way. She’s now healed from her initial wounds, but the spinal injury means she has ongoing issues with bladder and bowel control. She takes medication for this and follows a routine potty schedule, and she’s patient with her people helping her express her bladder. Misty is surprisingly clever—she recognizes when it’s time for help and even gets herself into position for her care. She doesn’t mind being carried, weighs about 22 pounds, and travels most places with her foster mom, including daily car rides to work. She’ll let you know if anything interesting passes by when out and about; she takes her watchdog role seriously. Her favorite things? Any crumb of food, toys, sunshine, and lounging in the yard. She plays well with her foster siblings and gets along with all the cats and kittens around her, though small pets like hamsters or bunnies likely aren’t a match due to her prey drive. She delights in napping in her dog bed and is cooperative when it’s time for a bath or to put on her doggie diaper. Misty enjoys picking a toy from the bin and entertaining herself independently. Misty’s special needs are straightforward but require commitment: helping her with daily care, being able to lift her up stairs, maintaining smooth flooring, and managing occasional accidents. She doesn’t require much exercise, but she loves her yard time and would do well with a family able to include her in daily routines and gentle outings—her custom cart is included. She’s spayed and up to date on vaccinations. If you’re ready for the rewarding experience of caring for a determined, affectionate companion, Misty may be the dog you’ve always wanted. Your new best friend is just one click away.
