Buddy is a spirited, loyal 70-pound pit mix looking for his forever home after being in the shelter since September 2021. His journey has seen plenty of near-misses. Initially found as a stray, Buddy was taken in by a good Samaritan, but he couldn't get along with their resident dog, which led him to the shelter. His original family spotted him on a shelter post, sharing a sweet video of him happily playing with a young child, but they never came to bring him back. Now, Buddy remains hopeful for a family who recognizes the loving companion he can be. Throughout his time here, Buddy has made significant progress, graduating from the Puppies for Parole program. He honed his house training, crate training, basic commands, and leash skills. He has even become muzzle-conditioned, boosting his confidence around other dogs in a controlled setting. With a playful and energetic spirit, Buddy is perfect for an active household. He thrives on tug-of-war, outdoor adventures, and would love a family that enjoys walks or hikes. When on a leash, he may pull a bit initially, but quickly finds a relaxed pace. He takes pride in keeping his kennel clean, which speaks to his natural inclination for structure and order.
