About Dexter
Your new best friend is just one click away. Dexter is a sweet, goofy older boy looking for someone to share snuggles and epic games of fetch. While he can toss a ball or frisbee by himself if needed, Dexter much prefers sharing playtime with his human companion. Walks are another favorite activity, and Dexter is a pro on the leash—though he’s happiest going about a mile or two before relaxing. House and crate trained, Dexter has occasionally Houdini’d his way out of his crate, but he never causes trouble afterward. He’s good with other dogs—especially those his own size or bigger—and would be equally happy as your one-and-only furry friend, as he truly enjoys human company most. Dexter is a quiet, low-key guy but should not be placed with cats; while he isn’t aggressive toward them, his curiosity is a bit much for most felines. Dexter’s gentle nature makes him wonderful with adults and older kids, though he may get a bit jumpy or excitable when meeting new people, especially due to his big blocky head that can lead to accidental head-butts. He’s very smart, knows his basic commands, and absolutely loves treats! Dexter isn’t possessive over food, treats, or toys, although he’s a lively player with other pups. He’d thrive in a home with a fenced yard where fetch and snuggles are daily rituals. This friendly boy enjoys lounging in the yard, taking dips in his pool, joining for walks and adventures, and curling up for couch time and Netflix. He would do great in an active home, perhaps with a veteran or an energetic senior, and especially appreciates companionship and affection. Dexter is ready to bring joy to your home in his golden years—just in time for the holiday season. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
