About Zoey
Zoey is a striking, medium to long-haired Maine Coon/Domestic Long Hair mix, about 4 years old, in robust health. She’s easy to care for—litter box perfect and up for nearly any food. Right now, she has her own bedroom, but often retreats to a large open cage for security, curling up in carriers or boxes inside. She likes to run and play in her room and will need a few sturdy scratching pads, since nail trims haven’t worked out yet. Zoey is naturally shy and would do best with someone who can respect her boundaries. She shows her affection in small ways—rolling around, meowing in her high voice when her foster mom speaks, and occasionally accepting pets while lounging in her cage. She tends to hang out nearby, just out of arm’s reach, interacting on her terms. With continued patience and attention, she could open up more. Based on her history, Zoey is best suited for a female adopter, as she hasn't connected as strongly with men. She gives warning hisses sometimes but is never aggressive—there’s a gentle, earnest quality to her. Even if she never becomes a lap cat, she may very well grow into a companion who enjoys quiet time near you. Zoey’s had no exposure to other cats in her foster home, so it’s unclear how she feels about feline company. She does not get along with dogs. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FELV negative, dewormed, and has tested negative on her fecal. Adoption is limited to local adopters in Northern VA. This confident girl deserves just the right home. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
