About Hal

Hal is a roughly 9-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) and Pit Bull Terrier mix from Coarsegold, CA. He’s a true rescue: found tangled in a horse corral fence, underweight, and missing many teeth after long-term neglect. Since coming into care, Hal’s received medical attention and finally knows a full belly and simple comforts. His treated intestinal infection hasn’t returned, and he’s holding his weight well with a soft food diet that’s easy on his mouth. He’s neutered and lives comfortably with a few select dogs, but he prefers laid-back canine companions and isn’t comfortable around hyper dogs. Hal does not like cats and should never be placed in a home with them, but he’s gentle with horses and enjoys peaceful walks through land and along the canal. While loud four-wheelers can startle him, he handles most new experiences with calm dignity. House training is still a work in progress, but Hal never chews or destroys bedding and just wants to settle near those he trusts. Hal’s biggest joy is water—be it a kiddie pool, a stream, or the garden hose, he simply lights up. His perfect home is a patient, steady one that will give him daily walks, toys, rides in the car, lots of affection, and especially water play in summer. Hal is grateful, playful, and eager to trust those who show him kindness, proving there’s plenty of life and love ahead of him. Hal was born under the sun sign of Scorpio, a sign known for resilience and deep loyalty. Click apply to start the adoption process.
