Elise is a one-year-old McNab/Border Collie mix with short black and white fur and striking reddish-brown eyes, fostering in Dickinson, TX. She was saved from the roadside after a car accident left her injured and scared, coming all the way from Mexico into foster care. Elise has a big heart and an even bigger need for companionship; she’ll want to be near you at all times and will happily claim any open lap for herself. She’s both protective and affectionate—loyal to the people she trusts, and a natural shadow dog who wants to be deeply involved in family life. Her early experiences have made her wary of sudden approaches from strangers, other dogs, or cats, so she will bark and stand her ground, sometimes snapping to protect her space. For this reason, Elise would be happiest as the only pet in a patient, dog-savvy home willing to give her the time and structure she needs. She thrives with teens and adults and, if introductions are slow and respectful, gets along with other dogs, especially those who are easygoing and non-confrontational. She’s living with two teenagers and a large poodle mix in her foster home, is kennel and potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and takes treats with a gentle mouth. Her energy is low to medium, she is quiet and calm, but she’ll open up and play once she trusts you. Elise is fully spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for a fresh start.
