Nugget
AvailableNugget is a young male dachshund with a small build, currently in the care of Central Texas Dachshund Rescue. He has special needs related to hydrocephalus and is on medication to help manage his symptoms. Nugget is spayed/neutered and known to get along with both cats and dogs, making him a good fit for a multi-pet household. His loving nature and unique requirements mean he’s searching for a patient and supportive adopter willing to give him the extra care he deserves.
About Nugget
This could be the start of something paw-some. Nugget is a truly special dachshund who’s looking for a patient and understanding forever home. Although he’s faced some challenges, including limited hearing and vision as well as a diagnosis of hydrocephalus, Nugget’s gentle spirit shines through. He has a few adorable quirks, such as occasionally barking at unseen things, walking in soothing circles, and occasionally needing help with house training—he’s currently managed well with a belly band and calming jacket. Nugget’s journey hasn’t always been easy. After more than a year with a loving adopter, unforeseen circumstances brought him back to rescue. Since then, he’s blossomed in his foster family, learning to enjoy sunny days outside and cozy cuddles in a warm lap. Nugget may still be shy with new people and other dogs, but he’s shown that he can get along just fine with his foster siblings and has a gentle, affectionate side. His food preferences may be picky, likely from previous experiences, but with patience and care, Nugget has learned to savor his meals. Nugget continues to take prescribed medications to support his neurological health and coordination. His sweet nature, adorable habits, and eagerness to love make him a wonderful companion for someone prepared to provide the extra care he needs. He’s ready to bring a lot of love to his future home, just in time for the next chapter in his journey. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
