Taking long walks have proved that sniffing is his favorite way to relax, as he loves to spend lots of time scenting. This really helps calms him and expends energy far better than his usual "on a mission" speed walking style. While he may not be ready to listen to your life story just yet, he was happy to easily trot along, stopping frequently to sniff! Out on walks, he has been non-reactive to things like cars and other dogs, thanks to his handler keeping him engaged and moving.
