About Otis

Otis is a four-year-old, black American Pit Bull Terrier with an earnest, quiet energy and a background unlike most. Before coming into rescue, he lived his life outside, with other dogs for company but little exposure to home life. The transition into foster care wasn't smooth; Otis spent his early days pacing and unsure, clearly more comfortable outdoors. Over time, consistent routine and reassuring foster parents helped Otis figure out how to settle, finally relaxing on his bed and following his foster dad around the house. He now enjoys toys, finds his favorite spots indoors, and has become quite fond of soft beds and peaceful mornings in the kitchen. Otis gets along well with other dogs after properly getting to know them. He lives amicably with cats, and he isn’t fazed by bigger animals, even horses. House training took some work, but he’s largely got the hang of it. Otis is still wary of strangers and can bark when someone new arrives, but his foster family has seen real improvement with patient introductions and positive reinforcement. Public, busy places aren't his thing; Otis needs a low-traffic, calm home with adopters willing to provide time and structure as he continues to settle in. His biggest joy comes from time outdoors and the slow comfort of a routine. He’s one of those dogs who, with time and understanding, shows you just how much he has to offer. Ready to fall in love?
