About Little Rocky
Little Rocky has had a hard start but has proven to be incredibly resilient. After coming from neglect, with little socialization and both parvo and skin problems, he’s found his footing in foster care. He’s a heeler mix, about a year old and 30 lbs, and has a sweet, gentle nature. Rocky loves to observe before jumping in, always affectionate with his foster family and happy to snuggle up for quiet time. Other dogs give him confidence—he requires a canine friend in his new home. He thrives as the wise 'uncle' to puppies and does well with adult dogs through slow introductions. Rocky isn’t used to children yet; older, more mindful kids would be a better fit as he adjusts. He sleeps through the night in his crate, often seeks it out for comfort, and is making great progress with house training. He needs regular potty breaks, communicates his needs clearly, but won’t use the bathroom on leash—so a secure, fully fenced yard is a must (not just invisible fencing). Leash walks are a work in progress—he’s alert and cautious with strangers, pausing and freezing until people pass by. With patience, more routine, and quiet neighborhood strolls, he’s gaining confidence. Rocky has never shown aggression, only freezing or withdrawing when overwhelmed. He does best in a predictable home with minimal foot traffic from new people. If you’re patient and ready to watch him open up at his own pace, Rocky’s foster family believes you’ll fall for his special, quirky side, just as they have. Foster-to-adopt is available to give everyone time to adjust. Your stable, understanding home could be exactly what he needs. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
