About Tumbes
Meet Tumbes, a striking 3-year-old Collie/Hound mix in Loxahatchee, FL, who landed at Big Dog Ranch Rescue when his whole family was brought in from Georgia. Everyone else found a home, but Tumbes is still waiting. He was previously adopted, but things didn’t work out—he struggled to get along with the children, so he’s looking for a calm, child-free household. An experienced owner, preferably familiar with herding or hound personalities, would be the right fit. Tumbes comes with plenty of energy to burn. He thrives on activity, loves toys, and enjoys daily walks. He already knows his basic commands and has good leash skills. While Tumbes can be dog-selective, he gets along well with some canine companions. He should not live with cats due to his strong prey drive. Meeting new people, he can come off shy at first, but once you’re in his circle, he’s affectionate and genuinely enjoys one-on-one time and cuddles. This is a dog who wants a stable environment and understanding people who give him space to build confidence. If you’re ready for a loyal, energetic companion, Tumbes may be the one.
