About George
George is about a year and a half old and weighs 35lbs—right in that sweet spot for a medium-sized dog. He came from a crowded Bay Area shelter where he was so scared he kept to the corner of his kennel. Since moving to his foster home, he’s had to adjust to living indoors and getting comfortable with household noises, but he’s adapted well. He lives with three other dogs ranging from 7lbs to 70lbs, and while he needs slow introductions (he’s cautious around new dogs), he eventually settles in well and enjoys company, especially his tougher-but-submissive foster sister. George likes to play hard, wrestle, and then sprawl out in his own spot or cuddle up with his person to binge TV quietly for hours. He’s a fan of walks and neighborhood jogs, but George sometimes freezes when something new or unexpected happens outside—he just goes still, not reactive. Treats work wonders for getting him moving; he’s very motivated by food and easy to train. Because of this, busy city living or energetic dog parks aren’t a fit for him right now. He did have a birth defect (pulmonary valve stenosis) and went through a successful procedure; now, his condition is mild, and he can expect a normal lifespan. George’s ideal setup is a patient, calm, adults-only home somewhere quiet—no city centers or places filled with constant surprises.
