About Brighton
Brighton is a 4-year-old mixed breed with plenty of energy and personality. She came to the shelter when her previous owner could no longer care for her due to frequent travel. Brighton thrives as the only dog in the household and would do best with children over 13. When she gets excited, expect some classic zoomies—she enjoys letting loose and running around when she’s feeling playful. Currently, Brighton takes part in the SCI Fayette Training Program, living full-time at Fayette State Correctional Institution. She spends her days with select inmates, focusing on enrichment, force-free training, and learning good manners, all to prepare her for a loving family. Brighton is considered one of the shelter’s Extra Loved residents, meaning she may need a little extra time and understanding as she transitions. A generous donor has sponsored her adoption to help make her journey to a new home a bit smoother. Brighton is spayed, microchipped, and her vaccinations are all up to date. She’s in Pittsburgh, PA, and ready for the right home to welcome her next chapter. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Brighton
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Brighton's mixed breed background means she can adapt to a range of living situations, but she does best in a home where she is the only dog and with older children. A moderately active household that can provide her stimulation and structure suits her well.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
As a medium-sized mixed breed, Brighton appreciates access to outdoor space where she can run and burn energy, but she doesn’t require a huge yard. Regular walks and some playtime in a secure area keep her happy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Brighton's energy and tendency to get overstimulated mean she is best matched with homes that have children over 13. She is less suited to young kids but can thrive with respectful teens.
