About Melvin
Hello there, I'm Melvin. I was found wandering alone in the woods, and while this new place feels unfamiliar, the kind humans here promised to take things slow. Every day, I’m discovering new scents, gentle sounds, and the comforting warmth of cozy corners. They’re helping me learn about my surroundings so I can feel safe and start to trust again. I’m a striking 1 1/2 year-old black and white cat with charming white paws—and a heart ready to love. I may be a little shy at first, but I’m hopeful and excited to find my "furr-ever" home. Come by and say hello—I’d love to meet you. (I did test positive for feline leukemia. FeLV, or Feline Leukemia Virus, is a virus that affects the immune system of a cat. It isn't a form of cancer but is a virus that may weaken the immune system and may make opportunistic infections and certain types of cancer more likely. FeLV is only contagious to other felines. For this reason, it is required that FeLV+ cats are kept indoors only. They can only cohabitate with other FeLV+ cats as it is spread from cat to cat via prolonged, direct contact with an infected cat’s saliva--sharing food bowls, grooming each other, etc-- and from urine, blood, and from queen to kittens during pregnancy.)
