About Diesel
Big Diesel is an imposing, 60-pound mix of boxer, hound, and lab—likely with some cur in there too. He sports a reddish tan, short coat that matches his powerful build. Diesel isn’t for first-timers or the faint of heart. He’s best suited for experienced handlers who can handle rough play and know how to manage big, strong dogs. Diesel shows off with a lot of bluffing—lunging and posturing—but it’s mostly just that: bluff. He’ll barrel into you like a linebacker and can easily knock someone down, but he doesn’t intend harm. Our techs have figured him out and safely run him through his paces. Food is a trigger: Diesel is very food-aggressive, so he can’t be fed with other dogs. He gets along with strong, alpha female dogs, but not with other males, and he’s absolutely not a fit for households with small dogs. Cats? He’ll bark and chase. He boxes with his front paws when he’s excited or attached to you. Diesel needs an adopter with the confidence and skill to keep him out of trouble, and proof of this is non-negotiable. A securely fenced yard is a must, and a home visit will be required. This blocky goof is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, but isn’t house trained yet. If you’re looking for a loyal dog and a true companion who will keep watch over your home, Diesel has a lot to offer. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!

Questions about Diesel

Diesel, as a boxer/hound mix, thrives in a home with a securely fenced yard and plenty of space to roam. This kind of strong, energetic breed typically does best in suburban or rural settings where they have room to move.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A dog like Diesel, with his active boxer and hound mix heritage, benefits from a large, securely fenced yard. He needs lots of room to exercise and play safely.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Boxer/hound mixes can be loving, but with Diesel's energetic and rough play style, he's not a match for small children. He fits best with adults or older, dog-savvy teens who understand large, strong dogs.
