About Beowulf
Start your journey together! Apply now. Beowulf is a gentle giant with a sensitive soul who has overcome a great deal in his life. Once a shy and frightened stray, he learned to fend for himself for months or years before finally being brought to safety. Unfortunately, the search for a safe, permanent home was not easy—multiple moves and failed placements only increased his need for security. Once he found love, patience, and understanding, everything changed. Beowulf now enjoys treats, welcomes affection, and adores the company of other dogs. He thrives with a confident, friendly canine companion and feels most comfortable as part of a pack, quickly forming strong bonds with his furry friends. For Beowulf, trust takes time, but once gained, he is loyal and affectionate, always wanting to be by your side. He’s excellent on a leash (as gentle as a mouse unless startled) and prefers a quiet life as a homebody. Beowulf's perfect match is a special adopter who can provide stability, patience, and a solid forever home with no big changes or moves. Flight risk precautions are essential—never unattended in a yard, diligent with doors and windows, and crate training is a must when you are away. Beowulf is food-motivated, loves to share crate space and toys with his friends, but is noise sensitive (loud noises and squeak toys make him nervous). He may try to curl in your lap, blissfully unaware of his size, and dislikes having his feet touched. This sensitive, loving senior is ready to retire and be someone’s loyal companion. If you have a friendly dog looking for a new buddy and you’re able to provide the patient, committed home Beowulf needs, he’s waiting to start his next—and last—chapter with you. Fun fact: With a birthday on January 1st, Beowulf is a Capricorn, known for their loyalty and determination! What are you waiting for? Apply today!
