Miniature Poodles stand over 10 and up to 15 inches tall and usually weigh 10 to 15 pounds. They began as water retrievers in Germany and France, and the smaller sizes became companions and circus performers. Under the famous clips is a squarely built, athletic dog with a dense, curly single coat that grows continuously and sheds very little. Colors are solid, from black and white to apricot, silver and red.
Most Miniature Poodles are lively, alert and quick to learn, and they want to be part of family life. Bored Poodles can turn noisy or demanding, so training games help. In Franklin, humid summers and rain through the year mean damp, muddy coats, so plan on professional grooming every four to eight weeks and brushing several times a week. Dogs vary, so spend time with the dog before deciding.
