Temperament
Many Shepherd-type dogs are devoted, attentive and eager to learn, and they often do well with clear, reward-based training. Some are wary of strangers or protective of home, so early socialization matters. Herding instincts can mean nipping or chasing children, bikes and cats. A dog's own history counts for more than the label.
