The Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, popular in North America for the past few decades. Size follows the Poodle parent, so adults range from toy and mini dogs under 30 pounds to standards around 70. Coats are usually wavy or curly, in colors from black and chocolate to the merle patterns that come from the Aussie side.
Both parents are quick, high-energy working breeds, and many Aussiedoodles share that drive. They tend to be affectionate and eager to learn, and they do best with a daily job like training games, swimming or long walks. Expect regular brushing and a professional trim every six to eight weeks, since the coat mats easily and low shedding isn't guaranteed.
