Temperament
Pekingese are usually devoted to one or two favorite people, reserved with strangers and independent enough to ignore commands they find pointless. Many prefer calm homes and may snap if handled roughly or startled, so crowded sidewalks and busy buildings call for a secure leash or carrier. Each dog's personality varies with its history and experience.
