Applehead Siamese is the popular name for the traditional, old-style Siamese, a sturdier, rounder-headed cat than the long, wedge-headed Siamese seen in show rings today. Some registries recognize the type separately as the Thai, while many cats called appleheads are simply pointed cats of Siamese ancestry. Weights typically run 8 to 14 pounds, and a healthy cat can live well into its teens.
The pale body, darker points and blue eyes get the attention, but the personality is the real draw. Many are talkative, clever and glued to their people, and many dislike long stretches alone. In Houston, that makes them a better match for households where someone is home often, or where a second cat can keep them company. The short coat is easy to keep up, and cats vary, so spend time with one before deciding.
