Siamese descend from the pointed cats of Thailand, once called Siam, and reached the United States in the late 1800s. They're medium-sized, long and lean, with a pale body, darker points on the face, ears, paws and tail, and vivid blue almond eyes. The short, fine coat has no undercoat, so it's easy to keep up.
Personality is the main draw. Siamese are talkative, intelligent and devoted, and they tend to shadow their people from room to room. That suits a Springfield household where someone is around a lot, but a bored or lonely cat may protest loudly or get into mischief. Many cats labeled Siamese are mixes with the same coloring and chatty streak, though each cat's personality varies.
