Senior looking for his perfect retirement home! Sparky is about 16 or 17. His Mommy has Alzheimer’s and lives in a care facility and is no longer able to care for him. Unfortunately, the family cannot take him but they want to make sure he is taken care of. He is super sweet-mostly he would like to lay next to his human & nap. He has a dog stroller and likes to go out in that and does do short walks. He also has accidents and does go on a pee pad when he’s able to get there. We don’t know if that’s more because she lives in a care facility and is totally depending on other people and their schedule to get herself and him outside or if he’s gonna be having the same amount of accidents somewhere else. We think he will be better (but likely not accident free) if he lives somewhere a person is just taking him out on a regular schedule and more often than what he gets at this care facility. He seems fine with other dogs. I think he can still see and hear some maybe not totally, but pretty good. He responds when I make a loud noise or call him on a walk. His vet had been Bay Road animal Hospital and he has been kept on a medication where he gets a monthly injection or something about monthly for itching and allergies, which has been great for him. And he also is taking an injection for maybe back pain—one leg goes out behind him while walking, and since we’ve been doing these medicines, he’s so much better in terms of not itching and being able to walk. If we could find an arrangement where his extended family paid directly to the veterinarian, they would be happy to continue his vet bills. He’s a sweet dog and they just want him to find a wonderful home. His new owner would of course need to maintain his grooming, food, and normal expenses. The dream situation would be if we found an older lady, maybe somebody who’s kind and maybe a home body and he can hang out with the and have a little walks. Maybe they have a garden and they can open the door and take Sparky out back for a little explore around whenever he needs.
