Alfie is an affectionate little 12-pound guy with a sweet, companionable nature. He can be shy in new situations, but can warm up quickly in a calm environment and loves being close to his person. On walks, Alfie is polite on leash but can tire easily, so he prefers short, leisurely strolls. If he feels unsure or nervous, he may pause on walks but a treat and gentle encouragement can help get him back on track. Alfie is reserved when meeting new people and needs a patient home that can help him work through his anxiety and build confidence. At home, he does like to be the boss sometimes, but a resident dog that can help set boundaries can also help with his confidence. He is actively working on his house-training, crate routine, and independence when left alone. With a patient adopter and a calm routine, Alfie will make a wonderfully devoted companion.
