We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sage, 4.5 months old (estimated DOB June 2026), female, Shepherd mix, currently weighs 20 lbs. We expect her to be a medium size dog when full grown, but of course do not know what she is mixed with. She is in a foster home in Houston, Texas. From a scared little stray to a confident, cuddly, and sassy puppy, Sage’s transformation has been something special to watch. Sage is a playful, curious, and clever girl who is discovering just how wonderful life can be. She loves romping around with her foster dog siblings, exploring her surroundings, and being part of whatever is happening. She may be small, but don't let that fool you — Sage is convinced she's the head of the household! When she's not busy showing off her big personality, Sage has a softer side. She loves affection, enjoys a good cuddle, and has recently discovered the joys of snuggling up in bed with her favorite humans. Watching her learn to trust people and feel safe has been incredibly rewarding. And let's be honest, this girl has opinions! She's a little vocal, a little bossy, and absolutely full of puppy charm. She's still learning her manners, working on potty training and leash skills, and figuring out how to settle when she's on her own. She's also learning to share her space with other dogs, so separate mealtimes will be important in her future home. Sage has been working on her leash skills and basic obedience. She has also made big strides with her crate training. What Sage is looking for: A loving, patient home ready for all the adventures of puppyhood. A compatible canine sibling could be a great fit, with appropriate introductions and separate feeding. She could also thrive as your one-and-only with plenty of attention, enrichment, and socialization. A family committed to positive reinforcement, consistency, and helping her grow into her best self. Lots of playtime, cuddles, and opportunities to explore the world! We have no history with cats or children. For kids, we always recommend a home with appropriate supervision. This sweet girl has already come so far in such a short time. She's resilient, affectionate, smart, and ready to keep blossoming with a family of her own. She doesn't need someone to expect perfection — she needs someone willing to help her learn, grow, and feel safe. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt?
