About Baxter

Meet Baxter, a spirited 8.5-year-old male Australian Shepherd mix. Despite qualifying for senior status, he still acts like a puppy, filled with energy and enthusiasm for life. Baxter weighs 64 pounds and sports a tricolor coat, which adds to his charm. His journey so far has been a winding road; he ended up in a rescue after his previous family couldn’t keep him due to a move. While he’s happy to have a safe place to stay, he’s ready for a forever home. Baxter is an adventurous soul. He loves hiking and exploring new places, always eager to seize the day. Car rides? He jumps in without hesitation, though he’s a bit impatient on the way to his destination. Walks are a delight for him, but he appreciates a strong-willed companion to help him along, especially with social introductions to other dogs. While he’s a social butterfly with people, he can be cautious around unfamiliar dogs, so he would thrive with a calm, confident canine partner or as the sole pet in the household—he does have a solid prey drive, making him unsuitable for homes with cats or small animals. Baxter is great with children, though his exuberance means older, sturdier kids would be best. He is house-trained and knows basic commands, plus he’s eager to learn more. All Baxter truly wants is a loving family to share his life with and someone who understands his need for companionship. With your patience and a securely fenced yard, he’ll be a joy to have by your side. Want to start an exciting new chapter with this sweet boy? Click apply to start the adoption process.
