Zander Meet Zander — the sweet boy who just needed a chance. When we first met, Zander wasn't so sure about me. He growled, showed his teeth, and backed away — telling me loud and clear he needed space. So I gave it to him. The next day I tried again, armed with treats and a whole lot of patience, and got him safely outside. That's when Zander started to shine. Now, every time I walk through the shelter doors, I always make a point to take him out. The boy in that kennel is a completely different dog. He's sweet, loving, and full of kisses. He'll sit pretty for treats and takes care of business outside right away. All he needed was someone willing to wait for him. And now when people approach, he doesn’t growl, cower or bare his teeth. Zander can still be cautious around loud noises or things he spots in the distance — and he'll let you know about it. He also did well when he got to hang out at Big Dog Run, coexisting calmly with other dogs without much fuss. Zander is a friendly, happy, lovable boy who just needed a little time and patience.
