Check out this big boy! Meet Ox (A569296) Ox arrived in late June and really struggled with coming into the shelter environment. He struggled with kennel reactivity and doesn't understand that people at his kennel are not there to hurt him. Treats can help win him over, but the best place to truly get to know Ox is outside in a play yard where he can be his true, expressive self. Ox walks great on a leash and will even ignore all of the other dogs in their kennels barking at him as he passes through. He seems to be a pretty carefree guy when he is in a less stressful environment and just wants to wander around with his tongue hanging out. He enjoys being petted on, but doesn't mind being independent of you either. Ox is a dog that can entertain himself if you are too busy to give him much attention. He was recently introduced to a female dog in play groups who he did really well with. We think Ox really enjoys having a friend to play with, and he loves to chase his doggy friends around the yard and wrestle a little bit. If you have other dogs at home, we ask that you keep Ox's size in mind. He likes to play and may be a bit much for a smaller dog who cannot keep up with his rough housing. At this time, Ox has not been tested with a male dog. Pictures don't really do Ox justice. What you can't see here is how LARGE this boy is. At a whopping 100 pounds, he is practically a boulder with four legs. With that in mind, he will need an adopter who is experienced and capable of handling such a large dog without issue. If you are interested in meeting Ox, he is now in our adoption area and would love to meet you! Please have a kennel attendant assist you if you need help removing Ox from his kennel. Ox is estimated to be around 3 years old and weighs 100 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative. Ready to meet Ox? Stop by 4950 Triana Blvd SW in Huntsville, Alabama. No appointment is necessary to meet our available animals. All adopters must be 19 years or older and be able to provide a valid ID.
