Coco’s introduction begins with small steps. During one quiet visit, she approached a staff member to investigate their shoes, the first time they had seen her come closer on her own. This 1-year-old, 60-pound girl has also enjoyed gentle back scratches, though she remains very nervous around unfamiliar people and situations. There is still much to discover about her interests as she becomes more comfortable. Coco needs a patient, experienced caretaker who will provide a predictable routine, respect her space, and avoid rushing affection. She is particularly sensitive around her head and can snap toward the leash during attempts to put it on, so her adopter must review her handling needs and leashing plan with the adoption team. Quiet company and opportunities to approach by choice will be important. Her compatibility with dogs, cats, and children is unknown. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter's care. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
