About Klaus Puppy Coming Late

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area. NAME: Klaus GENDER: Male (Will be Neutered) AGE: Born Sept 6, 2026 WEIGHT: About 1.5 pounds at 8 weeks old (Still Growing) DOGS/CATS: Get along great with other small dogs, No to large dogs, Unknown with cats CHILDREN: Should be great with older, mature children (10 and older) AVAILABILITY: Late December Meet our newest puppy – Klaus. In late August, Chihuahua Rescue & Transport received an emergency call for help from a Good Samaritan trying to find a safe place for a neighbor’s very pregnant Chihuahua and a male Chihuahua. They were living in the backyard with no shelter from rain or hot temps. The Mom was about to give birth anytime. CRT jumped into action and rescued both the pregnant Mom (Sofia) and the male Chihuahua (Nelson) that day. About a week later, Sofia had three puppies: Klaus, Sonny and Violet. Klaus is delightful. He is growing up in the same foster home as his two siblings. They wrestle and play with each other every day. They also love toys! Klaus is the most outgoing and adverturous of the three. He is brave and loves to explore and lead. Klaus loves his foster family. Their foster family let’s the puppies out of their ex-pen several times a day and they run over (at full speed) and crawl up on your lap looking for belly rubs and love. Klaus was born on September 6th. He weighs about 1.5 pounds at the 8 weeks mark and will continue to grown. Their Mom (Sofia) is about 5.5 pounds and their Dad (Nelson) is about 7 pounds, so we estimate that these puppies will be about 5 – 7 pounds when fully grown. Klaus is white with reddish brown markings. Don’t worry about the puppies’ “chunky monkey” look — it is completely normal! Puppies go through some adorable, round-bellied stages as they grow, and they’ll naturally develop a leaner, more proportionate body as they mature. For now, we’re just enjoying all that extra puppy cuteness! Here is our projected vet schedule for this set of puppies: September 6, 2026 Born October 20, 2026 First set of puppy vaccinations and dewormer completed November 17, 2026 (est) Second set of puppy vaccinations December 15, 2026 (est) Final set of puppy vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipped They will need a few days to recover and heal and will be ready for adoption in late December! Klaus is very smart. Due to their vaccination status, we are currently training them to potty on puppy pads. At night, they sleep in a dog bed in an ex-pen together. Due to their vaccination status, we have not begun to train them on a harness and leash yet. The puppies ideal home will be one with a high activity level. Klaus would love to have another small dog (maybe 1 – 4 years old) to play with. Applications will not be considered where he will be the only dog. The puppies will need a family who can check on them every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Klaus would be great in a home where there’s a great deal of activity and people were home a lot. The puppies do not bark much at this age. Due to their tiny size, we recommend a home with small dogs only. There are no children in their foster home, but they love people and we think they will do well with children 10 and older. Reminder that while puppies are undeniably adorable, they also represent a long-term commitment. Small breed dogs often live 15–20 years, and we’re looking for a family that’s excited to love, guide, and care for each puppy through every stage of life—from playful puppyhood to their senior years. We adore Klaus and know there is a perfect family out there for him. If you love to have fun and then cuddle, Klaus wants to be your BFF. His vet work will be completed in late December, and he will be ready for his forever home at that time. We are accepting applications now. Adoption Details: Klaus is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ Note: it works best when our application is filled out on a computer versus a phone or tablet. Klaus will be neutered microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed late December and they will then be ready for adoption. We are accepting applications now. These puppies are a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.
