Meet May! AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION May is a 5-pound female Chihuahua mix with an estimated date of birth of May 15, 2026. She is living in a foster home in Massachusetts after being surrendered because her previous owner’s housing did not allow pets. PERSONALITY: May is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and playful little puppy. She has plenty of puppy energy but settles nicely when playtime is over. She loves being held, cuddling with her people, eating treats, chewing on rubber toys, and showing off her adorable zoomies. Her foster says she sometimes hops when she runs and may be part rabbit! HOME LIFE: May is still working on potty training. She uses a pee pad about 90 percent of the time for urination but is still learning where to have bowel movements. She is excellent in her crate, sleeps peacefully through the night, and occasionally puts herself to bed. She may whimper briefly but settles well, and her foster has never heard her bark. TRAINING: May is teething and may chew inappropriate items or become nippy during play, but she redirects easily to toys. She is learning to walk on a harness and enjoys sniffing and exploring. Once she decides she has walked far enough, this little princess would prefer to be carried. She also rides very well in the car. OTHER DOGS: May is dog friendly. CHILDREN: May has done very well with a 13-year-old. Based on her friendly nature, we believe she could also do well with younger children who can interact gently and give a very small dog appropriate space. CATS: May is cat friendly and currently lives with a cat. NEW PEOPLE: May is friendly with new people, although she may prefer to be held or stay close to her trusted person until she feels comfortable. SENSITIVITIES: May becomes nervous in very loud, crowded, or chaotic environments and will try to move away. She would be happiest with a family that includes her in daily life while also giving her a quiet place to relax when things become overwhelming. MEDICAL: May’s baby teeth may not fall out on their own and need to be monitored as she grows. She is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. May is scheduled to be spayed and microchipped before her adoption is finalized. Approved applicants may apply and meet her before those procedures are completed.
