Derby is a handsome 16 week old male bully mix who is yearning for a family to love him and call him their very own boy! He is currently about 20 pounds and we expect him to be around 40-45 pounds full grown, give or take. Derby can be a little shy and reserved when first meeting new folks. We get it - he didn't have the best start in life, wasn't loved by anyone, if that had been one of us we would be a little hesitant to hand someone our heart as well. Derby is amazing though - regardless of not ever knowing what it's like to be a loved baby puppy, he knows enough to realize that is exactly all he wants in the world. Derby is an easy going young lad - if you make it clear you are friend not foe, he will melt right into you. He is easy to handle, and frankly will do anything to get a little closer and snuggle. He plays well with toys, is easy going and ready willing and eager to learn all the things. Currently he does well with other dogs, and seems as though he would be fine with dog savvy kids who can go at his pace. They also have to want a constant companion following them around, but who doesn't want that? Cats are a mystery, but he would likely learn to live with and respect them at this age. Being that he is just a baby dog, Derby will need to learn all the things. House training, then obedience and crate training, as well as be exposed to a slew of new, aka socialization. He wants a family that wants to have him where they are - and he will thrive and bloom with people that agree - and that will include him in outings and promise to show him the whole wide world is a pretty good place and not so scary after all! Derby will be ready for his new home in a few days. In the meantime we are accepting applications from interested individuals.
