About Opie

Meet Opie, our big ol’ couch hippo. This 80-pound pit bull mix is approximately 6 years old and has a whole lot of love to give, along with a serious appreciation for couches, belly rubs, and snacks! Once he warms up, Opie transforms into a total sweetheart. He absolutely thrives on settling in with his people for some quality cuddle time. Opie is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Knowing basic commands makes him an easy companion, and he does well with female dogs. He just needs the right person willing to invest time and patience to help him adjust to a new home. Having spent a long time in shelters, Opie is looking for a confident adopter who understands that settling in takes time. He’ll need space to learn and trust, so rushing him is not ideal. Once Opie knows you're his person, he’ll happily lounge with you, enjoy his snacks, and receive all the belly rubs you can offer. Due to his size, we recommend that Opie goes to a home with children 12 and older to ensure everyone stays safe. He’s neutered, fully vet-checked, and ready to find his forever family.
