Hi, I'm Mabel. I'm sure the first thing you'll notice is how pretty I am. I know, I'm beautiful, right? And it's tough being this good-looking. Everyone wants to pick me up and hold me-and just between us, that's not my favorite thing. That doesn't mean I don't want love. I DO! In fact, once I've gotten used to a new home, I'll come right up for pets and even touch noses or give little kisses. I just want to be the one to say WHEN and HOW MUCH. Is that too much to ask for? I don't think so. My foster mom says the reason I need more time to warm up is that I had a rough start in life. I was abandoned by my first people, or maybe I just got lost? Whatever it was, I lived in the woods with other cats who didn't have homes. I was really scared at first, but then I started to trust the lady who brought us food. I would rub on her legs and ask for pets. She told me she would try to find an "inside home" for me. Before she was able to do that, I had a baby. And I was still just a baby myself! I was only 6 months old, and the food lady didn't even know I was pregnant. But one day, she found my baby boy Mongoose in our sleeping box. He was only 1 week old, and she knew it was too dangerous in our woods for a tiny baby. That's when Mongoose and I became Tenth Life cats. When I first came inside, I hid for several days. I mean, who can blame me? I didn't understand what "inside" meant, and I had trouble figuring out that it was safer and way better than living outside. Once my foster mom convinced me it was all OK, I was able to start nursing baby Mongoose again, and now we are both happy and healthy. I sometimes jump up on my foster mom's lap and if she doesn't make a big fuss, I'll even stay there for a while. But she says nobody should adopt me thinking I'll be a "lap cat," at least not right away. Even if I do take a while to settle into my new home, you get an added bonus with me. I come with my baby boy Mongoose! He says it's because I need him. Bless his heart. It's really the other way around, but I don't need to burst his bubble. Either way, we are a package deal. Getting both of us is perfect because we love to play and wrestle together. We like it best when our foster mom plays with us. She has these cool string toys with bells and feathers that we love to chase and jump for, but we are also good at entertaining ourselves when she's busy. She can show you the toys we like best. Since Mongoose and I are only 6 months apart, I'm really more like his older sister than his mom. And I like to let him think he's the boss. Ha! Now for the obvious part ... can you believe how beautiful I am? My fur is the softest, and my stripes make a gorgeous marbled pattern on my sides. I have a big fluffy tail, even though the rest of my coat is not that long or hard to maintain. And most impressive, I have what my foster mom calls "epic ear tufts"! She says it's the best of both worlds because I have the look of a long-haired cat but the easy care of a short-haired girl. What can I say? I'm purrfect. If you want to meet me, make sure to look at my son Mongoose's profile too. He's a real cutie patootie. After reading about him, I think you'll want both of us to come and live with you. https://tenthlifecats.org/adopt/
