AvailableAbout Kalenjin
Meet Kalenjin! In September, he arrived at the shelter as a fearful puppy, along with his four brothers. After only a month in a foster home, he is a completely different pup! Kalenjin may come off as shy at first, but he has blossomed into a confident, spunky, and loving dog. His favorite spot will be cuddling next to you while you pet his velvet fur. Under the chin scratches are his favorite! After snuggles, he'll be ready for zoomies in your backyard with a furry best friend. Kalenjin will do best in a home with another dog to help continue to build his confidence. He's living with 3 resident dogs in his foster home and his courage has sky-rocketed in just a few short weeks! Kalenjin has a quiet confidence, a gentle heart, and is truly a special dog. Upon meeting him, you might see a nervous fellow, but once he comes out of his shell you'll fall head over heels in love. Have you heard of the rule of 3's? When you invite a pup into your home (especially a shy one), it takes about 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn routines, and 3 months to start to feel at home. Kalenjin will need time to adjust to your home, but once he realizes he's safe and loved with you... well, you'll be gifted with the most incredibly sweet soul as your new family member. The rule of 3's timeline is simply a guide-- he's only been in his foster home for a month and he's already running the place! Kalenjin is super smart, knows how to sit for treats, gets along well with everyone, and sleeps through the night in his kennel. He's doing well with potty training and only has the occasional accident. He'll just need a little patience, consistency, and a whole lot of love to become the most loyal and affectionate dog. His foster parents love Kalenjin dearly-- it's truly a gift to see the shy ones come out of their shell and learn to absolutely love this life of theirs. His ideal home will have at least one other doggie playmate, be more on the quiet side, and have patience when it comes to allowing him to acclimate to new situations inside and outside of the home. Kalenjin is a shepherd terrier mix and at nearly 5 months, he weighs less than 20 pounds. He'll be a perfect medium sized dog. Kalenjin is in a loving foster home, so if you're interested in meeting him please fill out an application.
