Meet Tsimane! Tsimane is a Shepherd/Terrier mix with a heart that's slowly learning just how wonderful life in a loving home can be. This sweet boy started out incredibly shy and is still figuring out the ins and outs of being a family dog. He's making progress every day, and watching his confidence grow is something special. Tsimane is definitely a dog's dog! He would love nothing more than to have a canine best friend to play with, follow around, and learn from. In fact, having another confident, friendly dog in his forever home is a must. He looks to other dogs for reassurance and needs a furry companion to help show him that the world isn't such a scary place. While he's still working on trusting humans, he's beginning to discover the good stuff. Ear scratches? Yes, please! Belly rubs? Even better! He'll happily cuddle up with you on the bed when he's feeling comfortable, although he may still choose to keep a little distance as he moves around the house. He's a boy who appreciates affection on his own terms, and his future family will need to respect his pace and let their relationship grow naturally. A few more things to love about Tsimane: Great with other dogs and MUST have a canine companion. Enjoys playing with cats! Great on a leash and enjoys his walks. Crate trained and continuing to work on potty training (he's getting better every day!). Loves ear scratches, belly rubs, and cozy bed cuddles. Expected to be on the smaller side, around 30-40 pounds. Tsimane isn't going to be the dog who runs up to every stranger looking for attention, and that's okay. He's looking for a patient, understanding family who will celebrate the little victories, give him the space he needs, and help him continue to blossom. He has so much potential, and with the right doggy role model and a family willing to give him time, we know his confidence will continue to grow. Sometimes the best dogs aren't the ones who love you right away, but the ones who teach you just how special it is when they finally do.
