MEET COTTON! A big, goofy sweetheart with the gentlest soul Cotton is a 3-year-old, 67-pound black Lab mix with the cutest little white tip on his nose—he looks like he's been playing in the snow! This gentle “Papaw” kind of guy loves attention, and now that he's feeling better, his sweet personality is really starting to shine. Cotton came from a deplorable hoarding home with nearly 60 dogs. He was thin, disheveled, full of worms, and suffering from chronic ear infections. He weighed only 40–45 pounds, and he was in so much pain that walking on a leash was difficult for him. With time, care, and kindness, Cotton has come so far. He's now a big, goofy sweetheart who loves being loved. Cotton is incredibly gentle and friendly, and he isn't aggressive. Fast or startling movements near his face can frighten him, though. He may tuck his tail, whimper, and hunker down as if trying to make himself invisible. We can only imagine what he went through before he was rescued. He'll need a patient, gentle home that helps him feel safe and gives him time to keep building trust. older kids that can respect his boundaries and space, probably not small toddlers/kids that would pull on him. Neutered Up to date on vaccines and preventions Healthy enough to travel and be adopted Because of his history of chronic ear infections, Cotton received a medicated ear packing on October 7, 2026. He'll need a veterinary recheck in about a month, wherever he is by then. His veterinarian thinks getting Cotton north as soon as possible may help with the final steps of healing his ears. Cooler weather and a break from our Louisiana humidity could give him a better environment as his ears continue to heal. Cotton has worked so hard to feel safe and loved. Now he's ready for a home where he can enjoy all the gentle attention, comfort, and kindness he deserves. His $400 adoption fee cover medical care up to adoption to include vaccines, neuter, microchip, foster care and transportation from Louisiana to NY. He is in La currently.
