Birdie is a sweet girl who was found as a stray. We estimate her to be at least 4-5 years old, and weighs 19 pounds. She is a typical Beagle in every way! We are guessing Birdie was kept outside and possibly used for breeding. She has acclimated well to living life inside. Although very friendly with people, she can still be timid around you, and does not do well with loud voices or noises. Birdie gets along great with dogs and cats and is very loving with the people that she knows. She is not crazy about car rides. Unfortunately, Birdie tested positive for heartworms. She has started her treatment with an antibiotic and a steroid and will be ready for her first injection at the end of December. We are looking for an adopter who will follow the heartworm treatment protocol and commit to be a patient loving home while she acclimates. All heartworm related costs will be covered by the rescue. She will also be spayed after she is cleared from heartworm treatment which will also be covered by the rescue. An adopter familiar with the Beagle breed is preferred.
