Beatrix is her name, but her friends call her Bea. And much like Junie B. Jones, she’s sassy, hilarious, and a little strong-willed. 😉 Bea is a 55-pound, 11⁄2-year-old Border Collie mix who was found roaming the streets last winter when she was just a young pup. Now she’s ready for a family of her own and she has plenty of personality to bring with her! Bea loves a good game of tug, is one of the most popular dogs at doggie daycare, and is quite the smarty-pants. She learns quickly and is SO fun to train! She’ll play fetch, join you for a run, or happily accept belly rubs on the couch - when I say accept, you don’t have much of a choice in the matter. 🤣 She bonds quickly with her people, and once you’re her person, you’ll have a little shadow following you around the house, eager to see what you’re doing and how she can join in. She’s also potty trained and kennel trained! Bea does have some stranger danger and a tendency to guard her people and home. Her breed traits and background likely play a role in that - she’s an observant, sensitive girl who sometimes feels like keeping watch is her job. She’s making progress every day and has come SO far compared to eight months ago, but she still needs management, continued training, and slow introductions to new people and dogs. Bea gets along with kids, too! A home with children would need to be very dog savvy, with adults who can reliably manage doors and visitors. Kids opening the door for a friend or accidentally letting someone unfamiliar inside could put Bea in a situation she isn’t ready to handle. Her ideal family will be experienced, patient, and willing to keep helping her feel safe. Free training is provided after adoption so her new family has support along the way! This athletic girl would love a tall, secure fence or room to explore safely on some land, along with opportunities to exercise her busy brain and body. Bea is longing to be part of a family.
