I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog E:7Meet Jamie, a small, adult Maltese mix weighing 10 pounds. This fluffy little guy can be nervous around new people, but with patience and a gentle approach, he can warm up and enjoy affection. Sweet Once Comfortable: Jamie enjoys pets and can be held once he feels safe. He may back away or bark when meeting unfamiliar people, so giving him time and space is important. A Little Social: Jamie currently shares a kennel and joins playgroups with other small male dogs. Sensitive Soul: New people and environments can feel overwhelming for Jamie. Calm body language, a soft voice, and gentle introductions help him feel more secure. Grooming Needs: His long coat requires regular grooming to keep him comfortable and healthy. He may need extra patience during grooming, especially around his face. Jamie is looking for an experienced, patient adopter who understands shy dogs and can help him build confidence at his own pace. A calm home without young children would likely be the best fit. With time, understanding, and consistent care, Jamie can begin to feel safe and show more of his personality.
