Meet Flaco! Flaco is an absolutely adorable 2 year old Chihuahua weighing just 6.5 pounds, and this tiny little guy has a BIG personality! He’s playful, spunky, affectionate, and full of life. Flaco has already been through quite a bit in his young life, including a badly broken leg that required surgical repair with a plate and pins. He’s recently had the pins removed and is continuing his recovery. Despite everything he’s been through, this little guy has so much energy, personality, and love to give! Flaco is your classic spicy little Chihuahua with a whole lot of attitude packed into that tiny body! He can be nervous when first meeting new people and may bark, act tough, or even nip if he feels frightened or overwhelmed. However, his foster mom says that if you give him about 10 minutes to settle in and get comfortable, he’ll quickly become your new best friend! Once Flaco trusts you, he absolutely LOVES attention and affection. He’s a bouncy, fun-loving little guy who adores toys, enjoys playing, and isn’t afraid to use his voice to let you know when he wants something. He’s truly such a funny, entertaining little character! Flaco is currently in a foster home with other dogs and has been doing well with them! He has also had some positive, supervised interactions with children, although his foster family generally keeps their foster dogs separate from the younger kids. Because Flaco can be fearful when approached by unfamiliar people, we feel a home with older, dog savvy children would be the best fit. He’s also doing wonderfully with crate training and has been keeping his crate clean! He’s still working on house training and uses pee pads inside the home. He’s making progress with walking on a leash, too, although he still needs a little confidence building. Flaco is looking for a patient, experienced, Chihuahua savvy family who understands that small dogs have boundaries, too! He needs someone who can read his body language, respect his space, and allow him to approach new people at his own pace. Slow, positive introductions will be important, and his future family should be comfortable giving him a quiet, separate space when visitors come over or during busy gatherings. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued confidence building, we believe Flaco can continue making wonderful progress. He’s not the type of dog who wants strangers immediately reaching down to pick him up, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll have one incredibly loyal little companion! Flaco is neutered and has received his vaccinations. He’ll also have his health certificate prior to adoption. His future family should be prepared to follow any remaining veterinary recommendations as his leg continues to heal. Flaco may be tiny, but he has an enormous personality and an even bigger heart for the people he loves! He’s funny, playful, affectionate, and full of that classic Chihuahua charm.
