Meet our sweet Ruby! Ruby was just a kitten herself when she was found with her five two week old kittens (Jasper, Jet, Jade, Opalite and Pearl) back in June. She was skin and bones, skittish, scared, but had a twinkle in her eye that let her foster mom know that she would be a fighter. There were times where we feared her littles would suck the life out of her. But with a little patience and love, and a LOT of treats, she has begun to come out of her shell. Unfortunately, we don't know much about Ruby's life before coming into our care, but we know that it must have been rough. Ruby is FIV+. This just means that her immune system is weaker than the average cat. She can live a long and healthy life with a family who will love her. Ruby is a petite girl with the prettiest eyes and an overbite to DIE for. Her kittens are now bigger or almost bigger than her, and she probably would let them nurse as long as they wanted. She would do best in a home with another friend or one of her kittens to play with as people aren't her absolute favorite, and we don't blame her! She was obviously once loved- but she was abandoned, and rescued to recover in foster. Ruby continues to come out of her shell, has started playing with her kittens, and is getting more and more curious every day. Ruby would do best in a home without children or lots of noise, she does not like to be picked up. She LOVES wet food and shows her love back by greeting you at the door at meal time and by rubbing her face and body all over your legs. If you're lucky, you'll get some slow blinks and purrs too. Ruby is looking for a home where she will be loved and understood on her own terms. Ruby has spent more of her life raising five kittens than she has learning to be a cat herself. She deserves a safe place to rest and finally relax, and to experience the same love she has given her kittens. She's truly a gem, she just needs the perfect family to help her keep getting her sparkle back.
