Thank you! Meet Peanut — 12 Years Young and Full of Life! Don’t let Peanut’s age fool you! This adorable little 12-year-old wire-haired Terrier mix has the energy and enthusiasm of a dog half her age — or younger! Peanut is a happy, active little girl who loves life, loves her people, and especially loves keeping an eye out for squirrels! Peanut came to us along with two other dogs when her owner’s health declined and she was no longer able to care for them. After spending her life in a home, Peanut is now hoping to find a wonderful family to love for the rest of her years. Peanut is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She can be a little shy when she first meets someone new, but give her a little time to feel comfortable and her loving personality comes shining through. Once she knows you, she is a devoted little companion who enjoys being with her people. She is very good with other dogs and could certainly enjoy having a canine companion in her new home, although another dog is not a requirement. Peanut also lived with cats in her previous home, so she is accustomed to sharing her home with feline friends. What is most important to Peanut is having people in her life. We would love to find her a home where someone is around much of the time or where she can be included in family activities and outings. She would not be happiest spending long days home alone. Peanut is very well house trained and does not need a crate. In fact, crates are one thing she definitely does NOT enjoy, so we are looking for a home where crating will not be necessary. She walks nicely on a leash, does well at the groomer, and rides well in the car. She may be a little nervous when a car ride first begins, but she settles in nicely. And then there are the squirrels... Peanut LOVES to run in her foster family’s backyard and keeps a very close watch for those pesky squirrels. If she spots one and the door opens, she is off on her important squirrel-patrol duties! Because she enjoys being outside and running so much, a securely fenced yard would be wonderful for Peanut. After she has had her exercise, however, Peanut is perfectly happy to switch gears. This energetic little Terrier can turn into quite the couch potato when she's tired and is more than ready to settle in and relax with her people. And for a 12-year-old girl, Peanut is doing wonderfully! She is healthy and has no known health concerns. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and has even had a dental cleaning. Peanut's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees; sorry, we do not take cards. At 12 years old, Peanut still has so much personality, affection and enthusiasm for life. She deserves a home where she will be treasured, included, and loved — not because someone feels sorry for an older dog, but because Peanut is simply a delightful little dog who has a lot of love left to give. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who can chase squirrels one minute and cuddle up on the couch the next, Peanut just might be your girl. If you feel that Peanut would be a good match for your family, you must first fill out an adoption application here (please copy and paste): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect "forever" home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out of state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them. Less
