Raava is a beautiful, petite tabby and white female, approximately one year old, with an extraordinary story and one of the most loving personalities we have encountered at Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary. Raava arrived at our shelter inside a carrier with her very young kittens. The entire family had been exposed to marijuana, and her babies were unconscious. Raava was severely affected as well. She would not blink normally, and she was extremely frightened and aggressive. Our team immediately began caring for the little family, and by the following morning, after the effects of the marijuana had worn off, we witnessed an incredible transformation. When we approached her enclosure, Raava jumped up, hurried over to greet us, and began purring happily. The terrified cat from the previous day had become an affectionate, trusting little mother. She seemed to understand that we were helping her babies and was incredibly grateful. Raava lovingly raised her kittens, but her remarkable story didn't end when they were weaned. When four orphaned kittens came into our care, Raava desperately wanted to mother them. She would actually reach her arms through the bars of her enclosure, begging for the babies. We allowed her to nurse them, and this wonderful little mother helped save four additional lives. She gave those helpless orphans the nourishment, warmth, and comfort of a mother they no longer had. Raava would have happily continued caring for more babies, but we decided she had given enough of herself. At only about a year old, she was practically a baby herself when she arrived at our shelter. Now it's finally her turn to be somebody's beloved baby. Raava is incredibly affectionate, petite, and sweet. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped and is ready for adoption. We are looking for a loving indoor home where this remarkable little girl can spend the rest of her life being cherished and cared for. Raava came to Edgar and Ivy needing to be rescued, but she went on to become a rescuer herself. After everything she has done for her own kittens and four motherless babies, we think this extraordinary little mommy deserves a very special happily ever after.
