Tweek is a handsome male tabby kitten born June 4, 2026. He is a member of our South Park Litter, a group of kittens who endured a heartbreaking beginning and a long road to recovery at Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary. Tweek and his siblings were taken to a local animal control facility when they were only six weeks old. They had lost their mother and were struggling to adjust to life without her. At an age when they still needed their mommy's comfort and nourishment, these little babies were suddenly forced to survive on their own. The transition was especially difficult because they had been weaned too abruptly. They struggled to eat independently, and the stress of losing their mother took a tremendous toll on their tiny bodies. When they arrived at Edgar and Ivy, our team began working to help them regain their strength. Unfortunately, their difficulties were far from over. All of the kittens were infected with feline herpesvirus, a common feline respiratory virus that can be particularly challenging for young kittens whose immune systems are already weakened by stress and illness. Tweek and his siblings faced a difficult recovery. They needed medical treatment, nutritional support, and patient, attentive care as they struggled through illness while adjusting to life without their mother. Thankfully, with time and dedicated care, Tweek grew stronger and eventually regained his health. Today, he is a beautiful young tabby boy who has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped and is finally ready for adoption. Feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) is a common virus that causes upper respiratory infections in cats. Symptoms can include sneezing, nasal congestion, watery eyes, and eye inflammation. Cats infected with feline herpesvirus remain lifelong carriers, even after their symptoms have resolved. The virus can become active again during periods of stress or illness. Feline herpesvirus is species-specific. It cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs, but it can spread between cats. Vaccination helps protect other cats and significantly reduces the severity of illness, although vaccinated cats can still become infected. We provide additional educational information about feline herpesvirus in our adoption packets. Tweek has recovered from his illness and is ready to begin the next chapter of his life. We are looking for a loving indoor home where he will receive the security, affection, and stability he missed during those difficult early weeks. Tweek and his siblings lost their mother far too young, struggled to eat, and fought through a serious respiratory infection. But this precious little boy has finally made it through. Now all he needs is a family who will give him the happy ending he deserves.
