Meet Uncle Ben! Uncle Ben is a handsome black male cat believed to be around one year old. He is one of the 38 cats recently rescued by Edgar and Ivy from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. Uncle Ben and the other cats were living crowded together in a very small space with almost no resources. They were suffering in the extreme heat with limited access to food and water. The cats were unsterilized, extremely thin, and many were suffering from upper respiratory infections. The psychological stress was overwhelming, with severe stress grooming and hair loss seen throughout the group. These cats had been through hell. When Uncle Ben arrived at Edgar and Ivy, he was triaged by our veterinary team and began receiving the medical care, proper nutrition, parasite treatment, and individual attention he desperately needed. Uncle Ben has now been treated for his medical conditions. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and on flea prevention. He no longer has to compete with dozens of other cats for food, water, space, or a safe place to rest. At only about a year old, Uncle Ben has already experienced more hardship than any cat should. His first year of life was about surviving. We want the rest of his life to be about something entirely different. Safety. Comfort. A full belly. A soft place to sleep. And people who love him. Uncle Ben survived the hoarding house. Now he is ready for a safe indoor home and a family of his very own.
