A beautiful, one-year-old herding dog mix who is as brilliant as she is sweet. This 45-pound girl came into our care very pregnant and in desperate need of a safe harbor to give birth and raise her puppies. Now that her motherly duties are coming to a close, Lune is officially ready to find a forever family of her very own! Lune is an absolute dream for anyone who loves an intelligent, engaged dog. She learns new commands in the blink of an eye and thrives on making her people happy. While she has the bright mind of a herding breed, she is a wonderful, manageable companion who loves to snuggle on the couch (and being the polite girl she is, she will wait until she is invited up!). For Lune, life is all about the joy of learning together and bonding with her family. Quick Facts About Lune: Age: Approximately 1 year old Weight: 45 lbs Breed Mix: Herding dog mix Exercise Needs: Easy-going routine! She does fantastic with just 2–3 walks per day (about 20–30 minutes each). Training: Fully potty-trained and crate-trained. Commands Known: Sit, wait, come, and leave it. Current Training: Learning to heel and doing fantastic with positive basket muzzle training. Mental Enrichment: High intelligence—she loves learning new tasks and would excel at agility or puzzle games purely for the brain workout and the fun of pleasing her human! Compatibility & Ideal Home: Adults-Only or Adult + Teenager-Only Home Required: Because Lune is a protective mama, she did snap at a child who got too close to her puppies. While her motherly duties are ending, she requires a home with no young children so she can relax, decompress, and focus entirely on her own training. Other Dogs: Friendly and gets along great with other pups! Cats & Small Animals: Lune currently lives peacefully with cats. However, true to her herding roots, she has a fun, alert drive and absolutely loves spotting squirrels and rabbits in the yard or on walks! Because she will happily chase them if allowed, she will do best in a home without small pocket pets. Health & Medical: Vaccines: Fully up to date on all shots. Preventatives: Current on flea, tick, and heartworm medications. Spay Status: Will be ready to be spayed after December 27th (can be adopted prior with a spay agreement!).
