Meet Ronald! Ronald is a 7-year-old terrier mix who weighs about 20 pounds, and this little guy has been showing us just how much fun he can be! Ronald was originally adopted from Canine Collective and spent about 18 months in a home before a change in his family's circumstances brought him back to us. Returning to kennel life was a big adjustment for Ronald, but as he's settled in, we've gotten a much better picture of the sweet, affectionate little dog he really is. Ronald gets attached to his people quickly and loves being close to them. He's a cuddler who appreciates all the good things in life-soft beds, cozy blankets, treats, BELLY RUBS, and especially a welcoming lap. He's fairly low energy and would be very happy having a person of his own to hang out with. One place Ronald really shines is away from the kennel! He's become a favorite for outings and adoption events. At a recent winery event, Ronald was outgoing and comfortable, happily settled into his volunteer's lap, and did great around the other dogs. His volunteer enjoyed spending time with him so much that he was surprised Ronald wasn't snatched up right away! We've also learned that Ronald isn't a big fan of being confined. He can be a little grumbly when approached behind a kennel or crate door and has been known to voice his displeasure when crated for a car ride. Take away that barrier, though, and you may see a very different little dog. Ronald would much rather be with you than watching the action from behind a door! Ronald has done well around other dogs, particularly dogs closer to his size, and his former family reported that he ignored cats. Because Ronald appreciates people who respect his personal space, we think he'd be happiest in a home with adults or older, dog-savvy children. Ronald gets attached easily and would especially enjoy a family who can make him their world. He's happiest when he can be close to his people and included in everyday life. At 7 years old, Ronald is past the puppy craziness but still has plenty of life and adventures ahead of him.
